HOW IT ALL STARTED...

Primo was originally established in 2006 to provide wireless broadband services to remote Taranaki communities. It now provides both mobile phone plans, fixed wireless rural broadband and fibre broadband services to thousands of customers nationwide.

Initially, Primo was developed as a solution to help rural Taranaki people and businesses who struggled to get access to fast broadband services. 

Knowing that wireless is the fastest broadband technology available to the rural community, IT specialist and managing director Matthew Harrison, set about building Primo's network from the ground up. As a result, Primo's customers are now enjoying the full benefits of connecting to Taranaki's only locally owned and operated ultrafast wireless network. In 2023, Primo launched its 100Mbps rural fixed wireless speeds under the governments Rural Capacity Upgrade initiative. The first in NZ to offer such speeds. 

Since incorporating the business in 2007 Primo has been growing rapidly which is down to its superior high speed broadband solutions, the high level of customer service Primo provide and the drive of the people behind the business.

Local company so know so how where you are so don't have to explain things over and over like other companies

Only con I can think of is i can only sign up once . Such a good company to deal with

Having Primowireless has honesty changed our families lives, after living with overpriced satellite broadband thinking that was our only option we were ecstatic when we were able to install our own receiver, because of Primowireless' mission to get the country folk connected with realistic data packages
Pros
Friendly local staff on the end of the email or phone.
Primowireless supports their community that support them.
Unlimited internet after midnight, which is fantastic for device updates (phones, tablets & xbox)
Affordable overage packages.
Cons
Data Caps, yes we could go unlimited but it is not affordable, and our kids need to know limits of data using.

Had problems with connection and speed when we first started, contacted for help but no reply (for a month). Finally resolved satisfactorily.
Unsatisfied with change from wireless to RBI when moved house in regards to contract terms and new fees but no attempt from Primo Wireless to rectify.
READ THEIR Ts &Cs CAREFULLY BEFORE COMMITTING (especially contract terms as the 24 months relate to the product not with the company as expected).
Pros
Good service when installing.
Good speeds on wireless when it works.
Cons
Very expensive to set up and monthly charges in comparison to other companies.
Very difficult to resolve problems (in breach of their Ts &Cs [clauses 4.1 and 20]). Despite advertising their "niceness" they are not interested in the customer but rather their profits. ...read more

Great support from a local team. Knowledgeable and easy to understand.
Primo really looks after the community too which is a real bonus.
I was initially a wee bit sceptical in the early days but the wireless connection was way faster and more reliable compared to ADSL. Primo upgraded my speed for free as time went on which made it even better. Great pings and both speed test and real world upload and download speeds.
I have heard of other customers who primo have contacted them to fix an emerging fault they didn't even know they had.
VoIP is great and cheap!
I know of a lot of people who wouldn't have access to the net if primo didn't exist too
