According to the leading NZ website Stuff.co.nz – a number of Spark customers continued to report problems with their broadband service on Monday after a major outage on Sunday took down most of the network. You can check the status of the Spark network here.
"The issues yesterday were resolved, but we are seeing some customers with ongoing issues with broadband and we're looking into why that is and if it's related to yesterday," Spark spokeswoman Ellie Cross said.
Issues for Spark customers started about 9.15am on Sunday when the company's broadband and mobile networks were reported down from Auckland to Dunedin. At 12.30am on Monday Spark said in a statement that "broadband services should now be fully restored" but their Facebook page continued to see complaints.
Here at Broadband Compare we don’t want to highlight any particular ISP as having an issue and it does happen to all providers from time to time. The challenge for Spark is just the sheer number of customers they still have meaning that customer service centres can be swamped rapidly if there are problems. Many smaller ISP’s have great online support to go alongside highly competitive pricing and so maybe it is another reason to consider a move?
The new technology with Fibre Broadband is much more reliable than the old copper network and the fixed mobile broadband options so if you can get fibre we strongly recommend making the switch. Check your address here.
